🛡️ Protect Your Personal Information

Never share sensitive personal information with other users, including your home address, phone number, passwords, banking details, passport information, student ID number or other confidential information. Even if you’ve been chatting with someone for a long time, think carefully before sharing personal details online. Remember, StudentUK moderators and staff will never ask for your password, banking information or other confidential personal details.

👤 Protect Your Privacy

Choose a username that doesn’t reveal unnecessary personal information and avoid using profile photos that make you easily identifiable if you prefer to protect your privacy. Think carefully before sharing where you live, your daily routine or any other information that could reveal your identity. Impersonating another person or using someone else’s identity, photographs or personal information is not permitted.

🤝 Meeting Someone You’ve Met Online

StudentUK encourages students to build friendships, but you should always exercise caution when meeting someone you’ve only spoken to online.

  • Meet in a busy public place.
  • Tell a trusted friend or family member where you’re going.
  • Arrange your own transport.
  • Never feel pressured into meeting anyone.
  • Leave immediately if you feel uncomfortable.

Your personal safety should always come first.

⚠️ Be Aware of Scams

Scams can happen on any online platform. Be cautious if someone asks for money, banking information, passwords, verification codes or personal documents. Avoid clicking suspicious links or downloading files from people you don’t know or trust. If something feels suspicious or too good to be true, trust your instincts, stop communicating with the user and report the account to our moderation team.

🔗 Be Careful With External Links

Only visit websites shared by people you trust. Suspicious links may lead to phishing websites, scams or malicious software designed to steal your personal information or compromise your device. If you’re unsure whether a link is safe, don’t click it.

💬 Use the Ignore & Report Features

If another member makes you uncomfortable, sends unwanted messages, behaves inappropriately or breaks our Community Rules, use the Ignore feature to stop seeing their messages and report the behaviour to our moderation team. Reporting rule violations helps us investigate problems quickly and maintain a safe, respectful and welcoming community.

🤝 Treat Everyone With Respect

StudentUK welcomes prospective students, current students, graduates and international students from all backgrounds, cultures and experiences. Treat others with courtesy and respect, even when you disagree with their opinions. Healthy discussions are encouraged, but bullying, harassment, discrimination, threats and abusive behaviour are never acceptable.

📸 Think Before You Share

Messages, photographs and other content shared in public areas of StudentUK may be visible to many other members. Before posting anything online, consider whether you’re comfortable sharing it publicly. Never upload someone else’s photographs, personal information or private content without their permission.

🔐 Keep Your Account Secure

Protect your StudentUK account by choosing a strong, unique password that you don’t use on other websites. Never share your login details with anyone or allow another person to access your account. If you believe your account has been compromised, change your password immediately and contact our support team.

🚨 If Something Doesn’t Feel Right

Trust your instincts. If another member pressures you to share personal information, requests money, behaves suspiciously or makes you feel uncomfortable, end the conversation immediately. You should never feel obliged to continue communicating with someone if you’re uncomfortable. Use the Ignore feature, report the behaviour to our moderation team and contact us if you need further assistance.

🌟 Building a Safe Student Community

StudentUK is built on respect, trust and positive conversations. Every member plays an important role in creating a friendly, welcoming and inclusive community where students can ask questions, share experiences, exchange advice and support one another throughout their university journey. By following our Community Rules, protecting your personal information and reporting inappropriate behaviour, you help make StudentUK a safe place where prospective students, current students, graduates and international students can connect with confidence.
